The Times Are a Changin’, or Are They?

As much as the times have changed some things remain the same, like the sugar laden beverages that we feed our kids. This picture would be laughable if it wasn’t still going on today with Gatorade, apple juice etc. that have just as much if not more sugar than Coca-Cola.

Don’t believe me? Take a look at the chart just below this first image to see with your own eyes. The fact is that 1 out of every 3 kids born after the year 2000 is predicted to have type 2 diabetes.

So why do smart people who obviously care dearly deeply about their children set the stage for a lifetime of health challenges that were completely avoidable? I think that this quote by Dr. Mercola hits it on the head.

“The food industry spends about $40 billion a year (even more than the pharmaceutical industry) on advertising, brainwashing you to believe that junk food is somehow good for you and your kids. And the beverage industry is part of that pack.”
- Dr. Mercola

So next time you give your kid Gatorade or Vitamin Water, both of which are loaded with sugar, or a “healthy” juice, please think twice. Or better yet, offer them a solution like for instance Yoli, which uses all natural stevia as a sweetener.

What’s the Secret to Good Health?

// August 30th, 2010 // No Comments » // Uncategorized

I’ve spent the last 2 decades researching and actively participating in the health and wellness industry. I’ve been a vegetarian for 5 years, been an avid tennis player, worked out consistently on my rower and Total Gym (the best piece of exercise equipment!), and recently gotten into running on my treadmill, which believe it or not, is a new thing for me.

Over this time I have seen many theories of health, diet and various “health” products come and go. Some, like for instance the Atkins Diet, eventually get debunked. It can definitely be confusing out there, especially with all of the conflicting information.

So what is the secret of health? From all of my experiences I have come to the conclusion that there really does exist one simple way for anyone to achieve optimal health. Part of this equation is most certainly regular exercise. I came across a quote recently that speaks to this fact:

“Those who do not find time for exercise will have to find time for illness.”
- Earl of Derby.

Besides exercise, the story alkalization has emerged with tremendous consensus across many fields as THE absolute key. Everyone from Oprah to Tony Robbins to Dr. Oz and many others are talking about it. In fact, everywhere it seems people are coming to the same conclusion. Like antioxidants went mainstream about 10 years ago, we are on the cusp of this story reaching a critical mass.

But its not a new story. In fact, as far back as 1931, Dr. Otto Warburg, one of the twentieth century’s leading cell biologists, was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his ground breaking work demonstrating that the root cause of degenerative disease is too much acidity in the body.

So rather than me explaining how and why alkalizing the body is of utmost import, I invite you to check out this video that does a great job of it.

47th Anniversary of “I Have a Dream Speech” is Tomorrow – Give it Another Watch!

// August 27th, 2010 // No Comments » // Uncategorized

Tomorrow marks the 47th anniversary of the the greatest demonstration for freedom in the history of the United States. 47 years ago today MLK, Jr delivered our great nation’s “I Have a Dream Speech” at the Lincoln Memorial. I always get the goosebumps watching this epic speech. So many memorable quotes that echo throughout history:

“I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: ‘We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.’”

“I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.”

“I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at a table of brotherhood.”

“Let freedom ring. And when this happens, and when we allow freedom ring—when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God’s children—black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics—will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual: “Free at last! Free at last! Thank God Almighty, we are free at last!”

God bless MLK, Jr!
