TEAM UP TO CLEAN UP
// January 13th, 2009 // Uncategorized
Now that '09 is here its time to get real.
'08 witnessed the culmination of one of perhaps THE most unreal business environments in the history of the world.
Unreal home price valuations.
Unreal company stock price valuations.
Unreal confidence in the consumers ability to keep borrowing.
And what did all of this result in?
For starters, $7 trillion disappearing from our national wealth overnight.
Wouldn't be the first time either. Remember the dot com implosion?
And how did this happen? In this blog I do not plan to address this issue.
Suffice to say however that basically, it was one big economic ponzi scheme.
Unfortunately, during these challenging economic times, people are more
desperate than ever, and therefore more susceptible to scams.
Within the industry of network marketing, we've witnessed a proliferation of quite a few unreal "opportunities" masquerading as legitimate programs, that give real companies a bad name.
Examples abound. Here are some of the latest headlines I've noticed:
…create a $250,000 business in your first year in the home business industry.
Even a trained monkey can follow the simple step by step program to achieve 6 figure incomes.
Amazing Secret Discovered By A 25 Year Old "Non Guru" Shows You How To Make $50,000 to $100,000 Per Day Without A Website, Product, Sales Copy Or Email List!
Yeah right! This type of deceptive advertising is not only detrimental to our industry, but its illegal!
TEAM UP TO CLEAN UP THE NETWORK MARKETING PROFESSION
There is a network marketing revolution underway. Top leaders have Teamed up to Clean Up our great profession so that we may take it to the next level, and go mainstream.
Historically, network marketing thrives in times of economic adversity. With literally tens of millions of people relying on our great industry to bail them out of their financial mess and start them on a path to financial independence, its more important than ever to educate people on what's real, and what's not.
It won't be easy and there's no short term solution.
One thing people can do is to just use some common sense.
The true litmus test is simply this: would someone buy my product if there was no opportunity attached to it?
Or even better, like a good friend of mine Tim recently shared with me: if you wouldn't sell it to your mom, its not legitimate.
Its just common sense gang. If it smells like a scam, it probably is. When there's smoke, there's fire. You've heard this before.
Sure there are even some fancy systems out there but at the end of the
day if there's no legitimate product, does it make it right? I mean if
you've developed a great system to rob a bank does it mean that you
should?!
Part of the solution comes from educating ourselves and teaming up with the right people. There truly is strength in numbers.
So here's what we're going to do about it.
A team of seasoned, successful, proven network marketers have banded together to start a brand new group on Facebook called the 'Network Marketing Revolution' with the stated mission of elevating our industry to enable it to be more universally accepted.
This is step one of a campaign to be rolled out this year by myself, Art Jonak, Carlos Aponte and many other successful, proven networkers from around the globe.
So, you have a choice: you're either a part of the solution or a part of the problem.
Its one or the other. They are mutually exclusive.

PS A couple programs to avoid at all costs. Remember, you have only one reputation.

Corey, this was a fabulous post! I have lost count of the people I have met with who are looking for a genuine business with integrity and real growth, who have run into incredible scams that give a bad name to the industry. Many of these don’t even have a legitimate product, or propose that you will have to put no effort in to grow your business. I’m honored that we’re in the same company, with so many leaders who are full of integrity. -Deatria.
Corey, EXCELLENT blog entry. I am relieved to see that I am not the only one that has noticed this very issue. In fact, it boggles my mind when I see those whom I admired as “true mlm/network marketing leaders” now marketing another program priced at up to $10,000 so they can just run off with almost half of it. What angers me the most is when they have to put down the MLM business model to sell their “so-called product.” The bottom line is that this is stemmed from a scarcity mindset. The problem with this is that in the short-term you may make more money, but in the long-term, these opportunities only attract those who seek the “fast cash and the desperate easy way out.” Secondly, it WILL NEVER LAST because you have to constantly recruit FORVER to consistently make that kind of money. And most importantly your reputation is at stake. Your reputation is your greatest asset when building any networking business, so why would you ever consider sacrificing that. Let’s just put it this way… there are a few names in this industry that I would never look at the same. I wouldn’t want to be one of those names, how about you?
Corey,
You are absolutely the best in the industry! Corey, you have no competition! You are real, fresh and exciting. I love what you do!
